What is NeuroMuscular Therapy?
Many doctors, hospitals, physical therapists, and chiropractors recognize NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) as the most effective massage modality that promotes recovery from acute and chronic pain syndromes. Neuromuscular refers to how the nervous and muscular systems communicate and work with each other. Neuromuscular therapy is a system of advanced manual release techniques that utilizes trigger point release, muscle energy techniques, connective tissue release, stretching, muscle re-education exercises, and home self-care stretches and exercises to reduce or eliminate re-activation of myofascial pain. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles, and biomechanics (movement). In addition, NMT releases endorphins, the body's own natural painkillers. It can be part of a comprehensive treatment plan, complimenting the treatments of other healthcare providers.
